"Pioneering as a collective - immovable to the masses" - this is the Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious ethos
Stigmatisation and Autism continue to share an alarming parallel despite progressive views on neurodiversity. Resisting the confines of insults, shame and social exclusion is not derived from a simple rebellion - it is the vital willpower to redefine our 'experiences' and 'worth' as individuals on the Spectrum.
We refuse to be created in the
image of society's misconceptions, systematic failings and discriminative
agendas.
The Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious
ethos is a mantra / manifesto
born of my personal struggles and Autism advocacy as a young woman with
Asperger's Syndrome.
In no way is this ethos intended to represent an idealism of Autism.
Rather, it presents the diverse array of talents and skills that each and every
individual on the Spectrum possesses; the ambitions behind 'making a difference'.
Backstory and background aside, the real story of the Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious
ethos is how you perceive and demonstrate it through your own activism.
The Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious ethos may seem
vague at present - that is okay, valid and expected. As we interrogate the
intricacies and strive towards greater perspectives and outcomes rid of a
domineering ignorance, we reveal the epiphanic light of optimism shining on our
Autism community.
