My name is Maxine "Max" de la Fontaine (Fontaine-Anderson) and I am the founder of the Supercali-flapilistic-autistic- alidocious blog.
The inspiration behind Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious goes beyond the title partially inspired by the Disney film Mary Poppins (1964). At the age of 7 years old, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of Autism), which is where the story behind Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious begins.

I learned that being autistic was a blessing and a distinctive part of who I am. Unfortunately, I have also encountered the unwavering challenges of stigmatisation and discrimination first hand.

Not all autistic individuals can communicate verbally, and certain societal perceptions sadly view Autism as an oppressive
and debilitating condition by misinterpreting this fact. On the contrary, many autistic individuals have aspirations and demonstrate an incredible amount of willpower and determination to achieve their goals.

During my childhood and adolescence, I was determined to 'disprove' the stereotypical notion that a life on the autism spectrum meant mediocre prospects and limited independence. From a young age, I have expressed myself through writing and speaking; I utilise my abilities to challenge head on the stigma directed towards Autism and, above all, the orchestrators behind it. I also wish to inspire those on the Spectrum through my activism.

At the age of 15 years old, I had the honour of delivering a presentation at the University of Warwick on the subject of 'Disability and Inclusion in the Workplace' to 200 delegates of an international construction company, having completed a work experience placement with this company in 2016. It was an exceptional opportunity as a young autism activist - one I will forever remember and treasure.

Currently, I am studying English Literature and French as an undergraduate student. I am trilingual, speaking English, French (français) and Seychellois Creole (Kreol Seselwa). I enjoy the complex nature of languages and literature.

One stereotype is that those with Autism struggle with multiple interpretations. Personally, I enjoy articulating my opinions and discovering the vast array of perspectives writing conveys in its various forms.

In addition, I am an enthusiastic language learner interested in the following languages: Japanese (日本語), Arabic ( العربية), Polish (Polsku) and Italian (Italiano).

Aside from being an autism activist, language enthusiast and full-time student, I am an amateur Manga artist, or Mangaka. I particularly focus on the underrepresentation of autistic women through my artwork. Moreover, I am passionate about Japanese culture and animation.

My current project as an autism activist is my Supercali-flapilistic-autistic-alidocious blog - a space dedicated to promoting and discussing individual and diverse autism experiences through a progressive and constructive mindset.
